How to install WordPress via Softaculous

This guide describes step-by-step how to install Wordpress via Softaculous.

  1. Log in to cPanel & click on 'Softaculous Apps Installer' under the 'Software' title:
  2. Click on WordPress under 'Top Scripts' on the main page.
  3. Click 'Install' - Under the title at the top of the page.
  4. From the drop-down, choose HTTPS if your site already has SSL installed - otherwise leave it as HTTP.
  5. Choose the domain to install the site on (usually default).
  6. Choose the directory to install WordPress into - we usually recommend deleting 'wp' and leaving this blank.
  7. Choose a site Name and Description.
  8. Set the Admin username, password, and contact email under the 'Admin Account' section.
  9. Select the language.
  10. Tick the 'Limit Login Attempts' tick-box, if you want to enable brute-force protection.
  11. Expand the 'Advanced Options' section, and set the Database Name, Table Prefix, and other options. You can leave these as default if you like. Make sure to record the details for later. In this example, the database name would end up being wpkp_wp627.
  12. Select the backup frequency if you want to use the Wordpress backup system.
  13. Select the theme of the site - this can always be changed later.
  14. Under the install button, you can enter your email address. You will get an email when the install is complete.
  15. Click install.
