How to use MTR in Linux


mtr is a useful Linux tool similar to pathping in Windows. It combines the functionality of ping and traceroute together to give you a trace that records ping latency and packetloss along the path.

To perform a mtr, open a terminal and put in
mtr --report-cycles=10 --report $remoteserver 

This will give you an output similar to the picture below:

To get a greater sample size, you can increase the --report-cycles as large as you like
