How to Generate a Full Backup in cPanel

To generate a full backup in cPanel:

Once you have logged into your cPanel account, you will see under the Files section, the Backups icon.

 

Under Full Backup, click Generate/ Download a Full Website Backup.

On the next page, select the Home Directory option from the Backup Destination drop-down menu.

If you wish to receive a notification of when the backup is completed, add your email address, else choose "Do not send email notification of backup completion".

Click Generate Backup.

This will generate the back up for you and place the file in tar.gz format inside of your home directory. You can then download the backup via cPanel, FTP or SSH.

Please note, that depending on the size of your files, this may take a long time to completely generate

How to Download the Full Backup via cPanel

To download the backup from cPanel:

Log into cPanel.
In the Files section, click on the Backups icon.
Under Full Backup, click Generate/ Download a Full Website Backup.
Under Backups Available for Download, click the link for the backup file you wish to download.
Select a destination on your PC where you would like to save the backup.

How to Restore a Full Backup

A full backup must be restored by the root user for the server.

If you would like us to restore a backup of your site, please upload it to the server, and submit a support ticket, and our staff may restore it for you.

NOTE: This will remove all data which has been added to the server since your last backup was taken!
